Asphalt Plant Update
2/27/2023 - The St. Albans Township Trustees and staff are aware of two asphalt plants looking to locate with the Township.
One is potential location is 1434 Tharp Rd. on the Geiger property and the other potential location is 2699 Johnstown Alexandria Road on Martin Trucking property.
These proposals will have to receive a Conditional Use permit from the St. Albans Township Board of Appeals (BZA). No applications for the Conditional Use permit have been submitted yet.
Once an application has been submitted the BZA will set a date for public hearing & meeting. There will be notices sent to the adjoining property within a 500 ft. of the property and in The Newark Advocate. There will also signs posted on the property. The public notice and application will be posted at the Alexandria Public Library and St. Albans Township website.
Along with the asphalt plant at the Geiger property there is a concrete plant being proposed. The concrete plant does not need a Conditional Use permit in the M-1 Zoning District. The Geiger property is currently going through a major development review by the Licking County Planning Commission staff.
There was a OEPA Public Notice in the Advocate on February 22, for public comments regarding the Air Permit for the asphalt plant at the Geiger property. To view that notice:
There is another concrete plant looking for location within St. Albans Township. A possible location is Moots Run Rd. on the Watco property. This location does not have the correct zoning district for a plant to locate there.
Respectfully,
Tom Frederick
St. Albans Zoning Inspector
